Frame Repair and Restoration
A damaged frame can not only distract from the visual harmony of the object it houses, it can easily cause more damage to a work of art. Whether a frame has sustained damage during transit, from over time and normal wear and tear, or from improper handling, ReNewell, Inc. offers frame conservation services which include surface grime removal, stabilization, structural repair, casting and replacement of decorative elements and ornamentation, as well as a variety of gilding and finishing options.
Craquelure comes in two types: drying cracks, which are cracks in the paint layer caused by gradual drying; and aging cracks, which run through all layers, from the paint to the canvas.

SURFACE GRIME REMOVAL
Compacted and embedded dirt, dust, and surface grime can greatly detract from the original intended aesthetic of a frame finish. Using a variety of methods and techniques, we are able to return these objects to their original luster and beauty to be enjoyed for years to come.
STABILIZATION AND STRUCTURAL REPAIR
Frames can often be structurally compromised due to a variety of reasons. Delamination, when surfaces that were once joined start to separate, is also a fairly often occurrence found in antique frames. Through the utilization of certain adhesives, structural stabilization can be achieved, making the frame once again a safe and stable housing for the object it holds.
CASTING AND REPLACEMENT OF ORNAMENTATION
From wildly ornate to minimal detail, our team can recreate and replace nearly any type of decoration that may be missing or damaged.
GILDING AND FINISHING
From traditional water- gilding, to flash and oil gilding, patination, or a unique finish, we offer a variety of options that enable our team to reintegrate and refresh the surface of your frame.
